여러분들의 기도와 사랑으로 저희 가정은 감사함 가운데 지내고 있습니다. 저도 큰 어려움 없이 신체적, 정신적 회복의 과정을 밟고 있고, 한미경 선교사와 자녀들의 삶도 정상화 되고 있습니다. 두 딸은 뉴욕 맨하탄에서 직장을 잡았고, 막내 하린이는 이곳 북 버지니아에서 고등학교 11학년을 시작했습니다. 햇빛을 볼 수 있는 것도 감사의 조건이요, 사랑하는 이들과 얼굴을 맞대고 볼 수 있는 것도 감사의 조건이고, 음식이 있는 자체가 큰 감사의 조건임을 날마나 확인하며 지냅니다.
한 달 전에 Hope Nicaragua 이사회의 모임이 있었습니다. 모든 상황을 감안해서 앞으로 12월까지는 아무 계획이나 사역에 관여 하지 않고 회복의 기간을 갖자는 결정이었습니다. 지난 10년 니카라과에서 섬기면서, 딸들의 대학 진학과 개인적인 이유로 갖지 못했던 선교사 안식 기간을 늦으나마 갖게 되었습니다. 허락된 안식 기간 동안 쉼과 회복, 그리고 기도의 시간을 통해서 새롭게 준비되기를 소원합니다.
니카라과의 사역은 정상적으로 이루어져 가고 있습니다. 원래부터 현지 사역자들이 맡아서 잘 운영되어 질 수 있도록 체제를 갖추어 놓았던 경우였습니다. 그래서 특별한 지장없이 정상적으로 사역이 이루어지고 있습니다. 의료 클리닉은 현지 사역자들과 김은철 목사님 내외분의 도움으로 정상적으로 운영이 되어 주님의 사랑과 섬김을 이루어 가고 있고, 목회자 훈련 신학교도 권일연 선교사님의 지도력 아래서 내년의 새학기를 위해 신입생 모집을 시작하며 활기차게 이루어져 가고 있음에 큰 감사를 드립니다. 장학 사역은 현지 사역자들과 고태호 선교사님 내외분의 관심과 도움 가운데 정상적으로 이루어져 가고 있습니다. 함께 섬겨 주시는 선교사님들과 현지인 사역자들로 인해서 늘 감사하게 됩니다. 에베소서 3장 20절의 말씀처럼 “우리 가운데서 역사하시는 (하나님의) 능력대로 우리가 구하거나 생각하는 모든 것에 더 넘치도록 능히 하시는 하나님”의 사랑과 은혜를 날마다 체험합니다.
부탁 드리는 기도 제목입니다.
1. 저와 저희 가정의 정신적 충격으로부터의 빠른 회복을 위하여
2. 이번 기회를 통해서 계속해서 주님의 은혜에 더욱 붙잡힌 자되어 살아가도록
3. 선교 보고와 간증을 위해서 방문하는 교회에 넓고 깊으신 하나님의 충만하신 은혜만을 나누도록
4. 계속되고 있는 사역을 통하여 생명의 복음과 주님의 사랑이 전해지도록
5. 니카라과의 선교사님들에게 주님의 능력과 풍성하심이 늘 체험되어 지도록
6. 한미경 선교사의 건강과 미국의 새로운 학교로 전학한 하린이의 학업을 위하여
새벽 기도 시간마다 감사의 기도만 흘러 나옵니다. 마음에 감사함이 넘치니 너무 행복하네요. 저에게 인생의 기회를 덤으로 얹어 주신 듯 합니다. 저에게 섬길 수 있는 기간을 연장해 주셨습니다. 4개월의 수감 기간 동안 깊이 엎드리는 훈련을 받았는데, 그 겸손과 내려 놓음을 유지하며 주님의 뜻 안에서 살아가는 저희들이 되기를 기도합니다.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! September 9, 2015
We write to you with grateful hearts, for all your prayers of love that are helping us to be renewed. Jennifer and I have been recovering physically, mentally and spiritually well. Elise and Emily have started their work in Manhattan, NY and Joshua has started 11th grade at Lake Braddock High School in Burke, Virginia, where we are temporarily staying. Every day, I thank God for the sunlight on my face, to see the faces of my loved ones, and to have many different food choices!
The Hope Nicaragua Board met a month ago, and due to the situation that our family has just endured, the Board has granted us a sabbatical until the end of December. It is our first sabbatical since we started missions ten years ago in 2005, and we plan to use this time to pray and seek God’s peace, recuperation and His plan for the future.
All the mission projects in Nicaragua are continuing as usual. The Nicaraguan brothers and sisters whom we have been ministering together for the past ten years are carrying out all the duties and responsibilities, with the help from other Korean missionaries in Managua. The clinic, with the help from missionaries Kim Eun Chul and his wife (Eastern Medicine), is running well; the Pastoral Training School is being cared for by the retired Rev. Kwon from New Jersey and is very active with many wonderful works; the scholarship mission is under the care of missionaries Mr. and Mrs. Ko, who are working very closely with the recipients. We thank God for the encouraging collaboration of missionaries and our local staff. We truly thank to “God who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20)”
Please continue to pray for:
1. Speedy mental and physical recovery for the Jun family.
2. To live more passionately for God.
3. To share our experiences through testimonies that reveal God’s abundant love and grace only.
4. God’s presence and blessings in our mission works so that His love continues during our sabbatical period.
5. Continual power and blessings to all the Korean missionaries in Nicaragua.
6. Joshua’s adaptation to the life in the US and in his new high school.
I feel as if God has granted me a second life, as if He has given me extra years. Every morning, only the prayer of thanksgiving is in my lips and heart. The four months in prison taught me to kneel and to be humble before our mighty God; I pray that this persists in my daily life outside of prison life. Please continue to pray for me and my family as we take this time to rest and to seek God’s will.
