Dear Supporters of Hope Nicaragua Mission,
We express sincere appreciation for your continuous support through prayers and financial means. We write this letter to ask for urgent prayer support. Missionary Matthew Jun has been in police custody since March 5th due to charges that we believe are false and unfounded. A preliminary hearing with a judge was held on March 13. We were expecting that he would be released, but instead a trial date was set for mid-April. He will have to continue to stay in jail until the trial is over. We believe without doubt that Rev. Jun is innocent and has been accused falsely. We have hired Nicaraguan defense lawyers and they are preparing for the trial. The U.S. Embassy in Managua was informed about the situation. We are doing whatever we can within our means.
Facing this unexpected tribulation, Missionary Jun and his family are crying out to God in order to endure this trial. The Korean missionary community in Managua is doing their best to help Matthew and to support the needs of his family.
All on-going mission projects are being maintained and managed by his wife, Jennifer and the faithful Nicaraguan mission workers. We the members of the Hope Nicaragua Board of Directors are also praying that we may endure this unprecedented crisis. We are pleading with you, the faithful supporters of the Hope Nicaragua mission, to join us in prayer so that Rev. and Mrs. Jun may have the strength and wisdom to overcome this trial.
Following are specific prayer requests: 1. For Missionary Matthew Jun and his family to overcome this trial with the protection and guidance of the Holy Spirit and to reveal the glory of God
2. For the physical and spiritual health of Matthew, who must endure the harsh conditions and difficult environment of the jail.
3. For the defense lawyers to have wisdom and power to defend and protect Rev. Jun against the false and malicious accusations. We know that you want to help in any way possible and find out more about the situation. However, we cannot explain all the intricacies of the legal system in Nicaragua, and there are many nuances that those of us who live in the U.S. cannot comprehend. We ask for your patience until such time comes for you to take specific action to help. We do not know why something terrible like this is happening, but we know that Rev. Matthew Jun loves God above all else, and God who called him to serve as a missionary in Nicaragua will work things out. We believe ultimately, this trial will reveal God’s justice and power to everyone involved.
Once again, we ask for your fervent prayers to God as partners of this mission so that we may hear a positive outcome as early as possible. We will keep you informed as we hear more from Managua.

그동안 전구선교사와 소망니까라구아사역을 기도와 물질로 섬겨주신 동역자 여러분께 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 긴급한기도요청이있어서 여러분께 알려드립니다.
전구선교사가 지난 3 월 5 일 니까라구아 마나구아 현지에서 그 곳 정부기관의 근거없는 모함으로 인해 감옥에 구금되었습니다. 기소여부를 결정짓는 판사와의 면담이 지난주 3월13일에 있었읍니다.당연히 기소가 기각되어 풀려날 것이라 예상하고 있었읍니다만, 안타깝게도 4 월 중순에 재판을 하는 것으로 결정되었읍니다. 이로인해 전구선교사는 재판날까지 구금상태에 있게 되었읍니다. 전구선교사가 결백하며,아무 죄없이 구금되었다는 것은 의심의 여지가 없습니다. 현지 변호인을 선임하였고 변호를 위한 준비를 하고있습니다. 나까라구아 주재 미국 대사관에도 연락했으며우리측에서 할 수있는 최선을 다하고 있습니다.
이러한 예기치 못한 환난앞에서 전구선교사와 가족들은 이 어려움을 이길 수 있도록 주님께 눈물의 간구를 드리고 있습니다. 현지마나구아의 한인선교사들의 믿음의공동체는 옥중에 있는 선교사님과 가족의필요를 돕기위해 최선을다해힘쓰고있습니다. 또한 모든 선교사역들은 신실한 현지인 동역자들과 한미경사모에 의해서 지속적으로 운영되고 있습니다. 소망니까라구아 이사회도 전구선교사와 선교사역에 불어닥친 이 위기를 헤쳐나갈 수 있도록 기도하고 있읍니다.
후원자님들께서도 아래의 기도제목들을 보시고 함께 기도하심으로 전구선교사와 한미경사모에게 이 환난을 이길수 있는 힘과 지혜를 주시길 부탁 드립니다.
1. 전구선교사와 가족이 이 어려움을 성령의 보호와 도우심안에서 잘 감당하고 정금같이 연단되어 하나님의 영광을 나타낼 수 있도록.
2. 열약한 환경의 감옥에서 생활해야하는 전구선교사의 영육간의 건강과 안전을 위해.
3. 변호사팀에게 지혜와 능력을 주셔서 전구선교사의 무고함을 잘 변호할 수 있도록. 전구선교사를 사랑하시는 여러분들이 좋은 뜻으로 여러모로 도와주시길 원하시고, 궁금해 하시며 더 자세한 내용을 알기 원하시는것을 압니다. 하지만 그곳의 사법절차와 현지의 여론, 정치적인 상황들은 저희가 다 설명할수도없고미국이나한국에서사는저희들이이해할수없는많은부분들이있음을 양해해주시고 지금은 참고 기다려 주시길 부탁드립니다. 여러분의 도움이필요한 시점이 되면 알려드리겠습니다.
하나님께서 왜 이런 일을 허락하셨는지 저희는 알 수 없지만 이세상 무엇보다도 하나님을 사랑하는 전구선교사를 니까라구아로 부르신 하나님께서 모든것이 합력하여 선을 이루어 주실것과 결국에는 하나님의공의와살아계심이이사건을통해서증거될것을믿습니다.
다시한번 소망 니까라구아 선교의 동역자되시는 여러분들께서 하나님께 간절히 기도하심으로써 하루속히 좋은 결말을 맺을 수 있도록 함께 해 주시길 간곡히 부탁드립니다. 마나구아에서 소식을 듣는대로 여러분께 다시 알려드리겠습니다.
