Evangelism. Service. Enlightenment.
In 1979, Milal Mission was formed to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ with the disabled (evanglism); to work with the disabled to make a world in which everyone can live and love one another for who they are (service); and to awaken evanglism in the church and inspire our society’s interest in the disabled (englihtenment).
At present, there are 29 branches of Milal in South Korea, along with 63 branches that can be found worldwide, all unified under the purpose of spreading the gospel to the over 60 million disabled people in the world.
Milal Mission in New York was founded by Byong In Choi in June of 1993. He expanded to begin providing group home services in 1996, and has been living with disabled clients since then. After 14 years of service to the New York community, Executive Director Byong In Choi resigned on Febraury 2007 and in March 2007, Ja Song Kim was appointed as, and still serves today, as Milal Mission in New York’s executive director.
Dream
For twenty years, Milal Mission in New York has been serving clients with physical and/or developmental disabilities, experiencing countless joys and overcoming obstacles as a unified organization. Ultimately, our goal is to open a center that will help us cater to and serve our clients. This center will provide not only facilities that will allow us to teach, educate and empower our friends but to also provide them stability and comfort – to provide them a home. The Dream Center Project is one of the organization’s most ambitious undertakings. The newly envisioned and designed Milal Mission in New York’s center will be able to host: classes for improved therapy programs, rehabilitation rooms, group home facilities that will be able to cater to a larger clientele, and spaces for organization administration and staff. Most importantly, the Dream Center will be fully handicap accessible and even include elevators for our physically unable clients.Milal Mission in New York hopes you will join us on our journey towards the fruition of this project! We ask that you join us in prayer to support the organization, the staff and our clients!
